UHMA APPROVED TRAINING COURSE
TRAINER TRAINING SETS STAGE FOR NATIONAL LAUNCH
The first of the many - Patrick Maxwell of Stephenson College led a recent "train the trainers" session for the new UHMA approved course in underfloor heating design and installation.
The special two-day course was designed to prepare college lecturers for the introduction of underfloor heating onto the syllabus. It drew a strong response with delegates
representing colleges from across the country - including Dudley, Bristol, Basingstoke and Stourbridge.
The course has been developed under the auspices of BPEC in liaison with SummitSkills and UHMA.
Delighted
UHMA Chairman Rex Ingram, who attended the training sessions with other UHMA Members, was delighted with both the final version of the course and the response from both academic centres and the underfloor heating industry.
"Underfloor heating in the UK has reached a point at which a recognised professional qualification has become essential.
I believe that this UHMA approved course will meet the demand from colleges and students for a recognised training programme covering installation and commissioning - plus that essential design element.
It's a quality product and a credit to all those who have worked hard to make it so, including UHMA Secretary Brian Sensecall.”
Professionals
Designed for professionals who already have NVQ2/ NVQ3 level skills in plumbing and heating, the new course comprises two modules. Total time for both design and installation modules is three days.
It is anticipated that the first trainees will attend the course at Stephenson College at Coalville Leicestershire later this year. Other colleges across the UK have already expressed interest in adding the new underfloor heating course to their syllabuses.
Although the initial UHMA course will be based around wet systems to EN1264, modules for a complementary course in electric underfloor heating are already being prepared for launch next year.
